From the US to Paris: A Message That Stopped Me in My Tracks

Posted by Christopher Keen | May 13, 2026 | 0 Comments

I was going about my day when a message came through from a former client. No heads up, no reason. Just a photo of her and her family standing in Paris, smiling, and a few words that I have not stopped thinking about since.

"Thank you very much for all your help and support. We will never be able to repay you. This is our first trip to Paris with Ori, all went very well, merci."

I had to stop and just sit with that for a moment.

This is a family that came to us in the middle of one of the most stressful, uncertain times of their lives. Immigration is not just paperwork. It is people's futures, their families, their sense of safety and belonging. Every case we take on carries that weight, and we feel it.

But then a photo like this shows up and reminds you what it all leads to.

Their first trip to Paris. Together. Freely. As a family that now has the stability and the legal standing to go wherever life takes them.

That is what citizenship means. That is what legal representation can unlock for a person, for a family.

I love this photo more than I can put into words. The joy on their faces, the fact that they thought of us in that moment and wanted to share it. That means everything to me and to everyone at Keen Law Offices.

We do not do this work for recognition. We do it because behind every case is a real person with a real life waiting to be lived.

And sometimes, that life looks like a family trip to Paris.

From the US to Paris, a big hug to you and your beautiful family. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your story.

Sworn To Advocate For Our Clients

“My father was a U.S. citizen, but I was born in another country.” Everyone in the government kept telling me I didn’t belong in the U.S., that I should give up and go “home” to the U.K. Immigration kept trying to get rid of me, and even issued a deportation order. Luckily, I found Keen Law Offices. Mr. Keen was the only person who believed I was a citizen; he fought my case, and after a long battle, Immigration gave in. They even issued me a certificate stating that I was a U.S. citizen since birth!”
